Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala

Kottakkal is a world-renounced center of Ayurveda. Ayurveda, the traditional system of medicine followed in Kerala, has been found to be very effective in treating many major illness and health complaints. The Arya Vaidya Sala, established by P.S. Warrier, the well-known physician and social reformer. People from different parts of the world come for treatment; Art and culture also flourish in Kottakkal at the patronage of Arya Vaidya Sala. The massages and therapies offered at the centre are most rejuvenating and relaxing. P.S.V. Natyasanghom has a unique place in Kathakali. A Kathakali School is run by the Sanghom.
Annual Seminar on Ayurveda and other branches of medicine, conducted as a pert of founder’s day of Arya Vaidya Sala, are attented by experts from abroad also. A medicinal herbal garden, maintained by the Vaidya sala is a rare treasure.
There is an Ayurveda College at Kottakkal. The Govt. of Kerala runs the only Ayurveda Mental Hosptal of the state, here. Kottakkal is 12 Kms. west of Malappuram. National Highway-17 passes through Kottakkal. The distance from there to Calicut Airport is 13 kms, and to Tirur Railway station is 16 Kms. The famous Kadampuzha Devi Temple is not far from Kottakkal, where devotees in and out of Kerala, come and pray to remove obstruction in life.


Kottakkunnu, Malappuram



It is a historically important place. The magnificent old fort atop a hill, built by the Zamorins of Kozhikode, located in the heart of Malapuram city. It was once the firing range by the British. There is also a helipad at the top of the colossal structure. Vettakkorumakan temple and Siva temple with the famous murals of Malabar are near to Kottakkunnu. Both the Vettakkorumakan temple and Siva temple, have brilliant carvings and fabulous paintings that depict the craftsmanship of ancient Malabar. Kottakkunnu is maintained by DTPC (District Tourism Promotion Council) Malappuram and they started Kottakkunnu Amusement and Children Park in the valley of Kotakunnu. During the season various shopping festivals were arranged in the valley of Kottakkunnu. Seeing the sunset is the major attraction and large people gathered here to see the sunset.
How to reach - It is just located in the heart of Malapuram city and 50 km from Kozhikode, 12 km from Kottakkal, 25 km from Karipur Airport, 17 km from Angadipuram Rly.station, 28 km from Tirur railway station.

Nilambur Canolly Plot



The world's first teak plantation was planted in Nilambur in the 1840s by the
 British is just 2 Kms, from Nilambur town. The plot was named in memory of
 HV Conolly the then Malabar District collector, who was instrumental in raising
 the teak plantation in the entire Nilambur area. The plot of 2.31 hectares
 is beside the Chaliyar River at Aruvakkode, where a country boat ferry 
awaits visitors.
